Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed the signing of free agent Steven Fletcher on a contract running until 2020.

Fletcher's contract with Premier League side Sunderland ran out this summer and the Scotland international has been weighing up his options as he plots his next move.




After consideration he has chosen to drop down to the Championship to link up with Sheffield Wednesday, who he will hope to inspire to promotion to the Premier League next season.

Fletcher spent the second half of last season on loan in France with Marseille after falling out of favour at the Stadium of Light.
 


Now his new home will be Hillsborough and the ambitious Owls.

The 29-year-old has signed a four-year deal with Sheffield Wednesday and brings a nose for goal to the side.

He found the back of the net 23 times in the Premier League for Sunderland, while Fletcher has also enjoyed spells with Hibernian, Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
