Nani feels that Manchester United will be well aware of what a future star they missed out on this summer in the shape of Renato Sanches.

Manchester United were thought to be in pole position to sign the midfielder, but Bayern Munich stole in and quickly did a deal to take the starlet from Benfica to the Allianz Arena.

Nani rates Sanches highly and he understands that the midfielder chose Bayern Munich ahead of Manchester United.

The winger is hoping his countryman made the right call, while he is sure Manchester United will appreciate that they missed out on a genuine future star.

The winger was quoted as saying by beIN Sports: "Renato would have been a great signing for Man United. I have no doubts.

"But he had a choice — and the choice he made was Bayern Munich. I hope he has made a good choice and that he is happy in his career, but I think United will now know what a big player they have missed", Nani continued.

Nani has seen Sanches up close and personal in the Portugal national team and he lauded the midfielder's ability to rise to the occasion in big matches.

"Renato is a very confident player. He is very young, but he already has a great personality for the game.

"He isn't scared to play in the big games and he isn't scared to show his qualities against any opponent.

"It is good to see another young player want to be a star and to achieve his dreams. You must be like that. You can't be afraid of anything, and he isn't."

Sanches will work under former Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti at Bayern Munich next season.

He is currently at Euro 2016 with the Portugal squad.
