Tottenham Hotspur have attempted to move to the front of the queue for Inter striker Mauro Icardi by meeting with the player's agent on Friday.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add another striker to his attacking options ahead of next season and recently lost out on Marseille hitman Michy Batshuayi, who is joining Chelsea.

Now Icardi is in Pochettino's sights and according to Sky Italia, Spurs met with the striker's agent in Milan on Friday to explore a deal to take him to White Hart Lane.

Tottenham are, it is suggested, ready to slap in a €45m bid for Icardi if a deal can be done.

It is also claimed that Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are showing interest in Icardi, though it is Spurs who have moved to the front of the queue by firming up their interest with an agent meeting.

Inter however are not keen on selling Icardi, viewing him as a key man at the club.

Indeed, the 23-year-old netted 16 goals in 33 Serie A appearances last season for Roberto Mancini's men.

The Nerazzurri are not completely writing off his sale though and first want to discover the exact details of Spurs' proposal when it lands on their doormat.
