Arsenal have confirmed they have agreed a deal with Japanese side Sanfrecce Hiroshima to sign young forward Takuma Asano.

The 21-year-old will link up with the Gunners when he passes a medical and clearance for the transfer is received.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who managed in Japan prior to taking up his post at Arsenal, believes that Asano is set for big things and he is relishing the chance to develop the 21-year-old's talents.

Wenger explained to his club's site: "Takuma is a talented young striker and very much one for the future.

"He has had an impressive start to his career in Japan and we look forward to him developing over the next couple of years", the French tactician added.

Asano has been capped by Japan at international level and he is also expected to be part of the country's Under-23 squad at this summer's Olympic Games in Rio.

The forward has made a total of 56 appearances for Sanfrecce Hiroshima, scoring eleven goals in the process.

Last year he was voted the J-League Rookie of the Year in a nod towards his large potential, which Wenger will now try to develop.
