Leeds United have rekindled their interest in striker Felipe Avenatti, who currently turns out in Italy for Ternana.

The Whites were interested in the target man in the summer of 2015, along with Aston Villa, but Avenatti ended up staying put at Ternana in Serie B.

However, Leeds have not stopped tracking the Uruguayan and according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, are very interested in him this summer.

The 23-year-old joined Ternana in 2013 and last season made 37 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring six goals in the process.

He has just a year left to run on his contract with the Serie B club, something which may encourage Leeds to believe they can snap him up for an acceptable price.

In total Avenatti, who is six foot, five inches, has made over 100 appearances for Ternana, scoring 21 goals.

Leeds have recently signed a striker in the shape of Swedish hitman Marcus Antonsson, but appear to still be looking to add to their attacking department.

And Avenatti could fit the bill for Garry Monk's men, providing a target for the club's wingers and flying full-backs to aim for in the box.
