Monaco look set to win the race for Lille full-back Djibril Sidibe after reaching an agreement over a transfer fee for the 23-year-old.

Sidibe has been linked with both Sunderland and, recently, Southampton in the Premier League, but Monaco have been making all the running in an attempt to sign the defender.

The principality club had a bid of €12m rejected by Lille, but according to French sports daily L'Equipe, they have now found an agreement with a new proposal.

Monaco will pay Lille a fee of €13m for Sidibe, while they have also agreed to send midfielder Rony Lopes on loan to their Ligue 1 rivals.

Sidibe impressed for Lille last season and played in all but one of the club's Ligue 1 games.

Monaco are now expected to race to seal the transfer and it remains to be seen if any of Sidibe's English suitors attempt to muscle themselves into the race at such a late stage.

Developed in the youth ranks at Troyes, Sidibe joined Lille in 2012 and quickly established himself at the club.

He missed out on a spot in France's Euro 2016 squad, but was placed on the list of standby players by coach Didier Deschamps.
