Rangers boss Mark Warburton says he is delighted to have seen Will Grigg enjoy such a successful season, but he is not intending to move to sign the striker for the Gers.

Grigg helped Wigan Athletic win promotion from League One to the Championship last season, while he then capped it off by heading to Euro 2016 as part of the Northern Ireland squad.

The striker has been linked with being a target for Brendan Rodgers' Celtic and recently the Bhoys' fierce rivals Rangers were thrown into the mix as another potential destination.

But though Warburton knows Grigg well, he has no intention of adding him to the ranks at Ibrox this summer.

Asked about Grigg being linked with the club, Warburton explained on Rangers TV: "I worked with Will at Brentford, we signed Will at Brentford.

"Will has had a fantastic season. He is not our player and he is not one who would be on Rangers' [radar].

"And that's no disrespect to Will. He's had a first class season and delighted for him.

"I am sure he will kick on again this season, but he's not for Rangers", the Gers boss added.

Grigg, 25, found the back of the net a total of 28 times for Wigan last season across all competitions.

His contract with the Latics runs until 2018.
