Tottenham Hotspur have initiated contact to probe the possibility of signing Bayern Munich playmaker Mario Gotze in recent days, according to German daily Bild, while the midfielder himself is now ready to leave the Allianz Arena.

The 24-year-old Germany international struggled for relevance last season at Bayern Munich, and the German champions have indicated that they are keen to offload him this summer.

The player himself maintained before the European Championship that he wants to remain in Bavaria, and is looking forward to working under Carlo Ancelotti in the upcoming campaign.

However, things have changed over the last few days and it has been claimed that the Germany playmaker informed his international team-mates during Euro 2016 that he is now ready to leave the club this summer.

Borussia Dortmund have been keen to see Gotze return to the Westfalenstadion, but they are yet to make any concrete move, and Juventus and Liverpool have also been touted as his possible destinations.

However, it has been claimed that Tottenham have entered the transfer mix for Gotze, and have made contact in recent days to probe the possibility of signing him this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino remains keen to add more quality to his attack, and Spurs are interested in signing a playmaker of Gotze’s quality.

With a year left on his contract with Bayern Munich, the German seems certain to leave, and he could be wearing the Tottenham whites next season in England.
