Borussia Dortmund have not given up on re-signing Mario Gotze this summer and are prepared to fight Tottenham Hotspur for his signature.

Gotze had been expected to remain at Bayern Munich and fight for his place under incoming coach Carlo Ancelotti, but the German had a rethink while on international duty at Euro 2016.
 



The attacking midfielder is now ready to move on from Bayern Munich and Tottenham are doing all the running in the race for his signature.

But according to German daily Bild, Dortmund have not given up hope of re-signing their former player.
 


The Ruhr giants are still exploring the possibility of snapping up Gotze, something which puts them on a collision course with Tottenham.

Spurs may have more financial muscle to flex than Dortmund, but a return to his former club would allow Gotze to remain in the Bundesliga and in his homeland.

Dortmund though are looking at alternatives in the case that they miss out on Gotze.

And top of the list is Wolfsburg star Andre Schurrle.
