Inter technical director Piero Ausilio met Axel Witsel's agent in a Milan hotel yesterday, but the Nerazzurri have yet to make a move for the Belgium international.

Witsel is expected to move on from current club Zenit St. Petersburg this summer and has been the subject of a transfer tug-of-war between Everton and Napoli.

Inter have been linked with entering the race and could well choose to do so.

According to Italian TV programme Qui Studio A Voi Stadio, the Nerazzurri's technical director Ausilio met Witsel's agent yesterday in a hotel in Milan. However, crucially, the Serie A giants have yet to make an official move for the midfielder and are at present just weighing up a bid.

Napoli managed to agree a fee of €22m plus €3m in bonus payments for Witsel, while Everton's offer of €25m has also met with success.
