Emanuele Giaccherini was moved out of the door at Sunderland too hastily, one of the Italian's representatives believes.

The Italy winger stands on the brink of completing a move to last season's Serie A runners-up, Napoli, from Sunderland after a fee of €1.5m was agreed between the two clubs.

Giaccherini was loaned out to Bologna last summer by former Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat, who decided the Italian had nothing to offer his Black Cats squad, while incumbent Sam Allardyce recently claimed the situation involving the winger was too far down the line for him to continue at the club.

A successful campaign in Serie A and a star showing at Euro 2016 with Italy has put Giaccherini back in the spotlight and one of his representatives feels Sunderland acted too quickly in writing him off.

"The experience in the English league was wonderful [for Giaccherini], but the relationship with Sunderland during the last period was not good because the boy was sent away too early by their coach", Guilio Marinelli told TV Luna.

The winger's representative also feels that Napoli are getting a bargain in Giaccherini. He explained Sunderland wanted a higher price for the Italian, but having already agreed to sell to Torino for €1.5m, Napoli were not prepared to go above their rivals' offer.

"The price that is being paid for Emanuele is quite low, probably due to asking for a higher price first considering the value of the player, but the bar was set by Sunderland giving the OK to Torino for €1.5m.

"Rightly, Napoli did not want to spend a euro more", he added.
