1.FC Koln sporting director Jorg Schmadtke has revealed that his club have not received a formal offer from Barcelona for defender Jonas Hector, who has also been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

The 26-year-old shone for the Germany national team at Euro 2016, scoring the winning penalty in his side's quarter-final victory against Italy.

His performances at club and country level have seen him linked with a move and Barcelona, along with Liverpool and Spurs, are in the mix.

Koln are aware of the Spanish giants' interest in the defender, but insist that a bid has not landed on their desk from the Catalans.

It had been claimed €18m would not even be enough for Hector, but Schmadtke has remained coy, saying no bid has been received.

"There has not been any direct contact with Barcelona over Hector", Schmadtke told German magazine Kicker.

"I cannot say €18m is not enough for him, because I never received such an offer.

"I have not spoken with anyone at Barcelona. I know that Barcelona were interested in Hector, but there is nothing more to it.

"His agent told me there was some interest.

"I told him to speak with Barca and return when things got more concrete.

"He never returned to me."

Hector joined Koln from the lower leagues in 2010 and quickly progressed at the club, helping the side gain promotion to the Bundesliga and being capped for Germany in 2014.
