Leeds United target Anthony Limbombe may see his dispute with NEC Nijmegen go to arbitration, the head of the Dutch Players' Association (VVCS) believes.

Limbombe is desperate to leave NEC this summer and wants to join Belgian giants Club Brugge. However, Club Brugge's €1.7m bid for the winger is not enough for NEC, who know three other clubs will pay more money.

Those sides are Leeds, Granada and Toulouse; NEC already have a draft agreement with Toulouse, but Limbombe does not want to join the French club.

He left training at NEC on Friday and then failed to report on Monday, despite being threatened with disciplinary action if he did not. Now NEC have stopped paying his salary and have fined him.

For VVCS chairman Danny Hesp, arbitration may be the only way forward.

"He is now defaulting [on his contract], which is legally refusing to work", Hesp told Omroep Gelderland.

"The club cannot force him to go somewhere, but it can't be vice-versa either.

"An arbitration case is the standard way [forward]."

But if Limbombe does progress his case to arbitration, he would not be able to count on support from Hesp's VVCS, as he is a foreign player.

"He is not one of our members. Most foreign players are not", Hesp explained.

Limbombe was chased by Leeds last summer, but NEC priced him out of a move to Elland Road and the Whites bought winger Jordan Botaka from Excelsior instead.
