Roma are yet to reach an agreement with Arsenal over a deal to extend Wojciech Szczesny’s loan stay at the Stadio Olimpico.

Following Petr Cech’s arrival at the Emirates last summer, Arsenal loaned out the Pole to Roma, and the 26-year-old enjoyed a fruitful campaign between the sticks for the Giallorossi.

Szczesny was the first choice goalkeeper at Roma, with 42 appearances under his belt and both the player and the club have been keen to extend his stay at the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma have been in talks with Arsenal for weeks to reach an agreement, and despite reportedly closing in on a deal, according to Sky Italia, the clubs are yet to agree terms.

Arsenal are ready to extend the goalkeeper’s loan stay at Roma, but have been stubborn on doing a deal on their own terms, which has played a part in delaying the move.

Roma remain positive about reaching an agreement, but are also covering all their bases should Szczesny be forced to return to Arsenal this summer.

The Serie A giants are set to offer a new contract to Lukasz Skorupski, who has returned from his loan stint at Empoli, and he could get his chance if his fellow Pole returns to the Emirates.
