Tottenham Hotspur forward Clinton N’Jie is determined to remain at White Hart Lane and compete for a place in the team despite interest from Marseille.

The 22-year-old joined Tottenham last summer from Lyon, but his first season in English football was marred by a serious knee injury, and none of his eight Premier League appearances came from the starting eleven.

Marseille are plotting to take the striker back to France this summer, but it seems N’Jie is keen to continue at Tottenham despite the competition for places at White Hart Lane.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, N’Jie met Mauricio Pochettino and Spurs head of recruitment Paul Mitchell yesterday and was informed that it is only going to be more difficult for him to get into the team next season.

However, N’Jie has vowed to stay at Spurs and fight for a place in Pochettino’s team despite an option to return to France with Marseille.

On the other hand Marseille are not losing hope of signing N’Jie, and are confident that they will be able to change the 22-year-old’s mind before the transfer window slams shut at the end of next month.

Tottenham seem keen to allow N’Jie to leave this summer either on loan or a permanent transfer, and have a ready-made taker in Marseille, but the will of player at the moment is to continue at White Hart Lane.

He has a contract until 2020 with Spurs.
