Chelsea are yet to make any contact for Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, according to Portuguese daily Diario Noticias.

The young defender joined the Benfica academy in 2012, and gradually progressed to become a first team mainstay in their squad over the course of the last campaign.

His performances in Portugal have ignited the fascination of a number of clubs across Europe, with speculation suggesting that Chelsea are serious about signing him this summer.

There have been claims that the Blues are preparing to trigger the release clause in his contract in the coming days, but it seems Chelsea are yet to make any concrete move for the player.

It has been claimed that Chelsea are yet to contact Benfica or the defender’s agent, Jorge Mendes, in order to open talks over a proposed transfer to Stamford Bridge.

While a switch to west London has not been ruled out, the Blues are yet to take any concrete steps to sign Lindelof from the Portuguese giants this summer.

He has made just 26 senior appearances for Benfica, but that has been enough for him to break into the Sweden team, with six international caps already to his name.

Lindelof has a contract until 2020 with the club.
