Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is waiting to see what happens with Arsenal's interest in his club's star man Gonzalo Higuain.

The Argentina striker has been linked with leaving Napoli this summer, amid strong interest from Juventus, while he has also been mooted as a target for Atletico Madrid.

De Laurentiis does not want Higuain to leave unless a club meet his €94.7m release clause and it had been claimed Juventus were set to do that, although the president recently insisted the Bianconeri have no intention of offering such a sum.

Arsenal are claimed to have had an offer rejected and De Laurentiis is watching with interest which way the saga develops.

He was quoted as saying by Sky Italia, when asked about Juventus: "Even if they pay the release clause for Higuain, they need the 'OK' from the player.

"Atletico Madrid offered one month ago €60m plus two players for Higuain; I've refused.

"Now let's see with Arsenal", De Laurentiis added.

Higuain was a dominant figure in Serie A last season as he netted 36 goals to fire Napoli to second spot behind Juventus and in the process secure Champions League football for the Azzurri in the forthcoming campaign.
