Marseille are still pushing to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout this summer, working overtime to sell a switch to the Stade Velodrome to the Frenchman, but are facing stiff competition from Real Betis.

The Frenchman joined Aston Villa from Nantes last summer, and made 25 Premier League appearances for the club in a disastrous campaign which culminated in their relegation.

Still only 23, the midfielder faces the prospect of playing in the Championship next season, but he is also attracting interest from Marseille, who are working on a deal to take Veretout back to France.

Veretout is reportedly keen on moving to Marseille, but there have been claims that his advisors are not too enthusiastic about the prospect of the midfielder moving to the Stade Velodrome.
