Former Juventus director Luciano Moggi believes the Italian champions should immediately sign FC Porto midfielder Hector Herrera if they lose Paul Pogba this summer, and if they do so they will not notice the Frenchman has left.

Manchester United are pushing to take the French midfielder to Old Trafford, and have already agreed personal terms with super agent Mino Raiola over a contract for his client.

They have also opened talks with Juventus over the proposed move, and are expected to meet Juventus’ hefty financial demands, and sign Pogba for a world record fee of €120m.

Juventus have already sounded out a few of their midfield targets in anticipation of the 23-year-old’s departure, and are expected to make their move if Pogba eventually leaves.

While Gonzalo Higuain is top target for the club, Moggi feels along with the striker, Juventus should also look to wrap up a deal for Porto midfielder Herrera in order to replace the Frenchman.

The former Juventus director told Italian radio station Radio Crc: "If I were Juventus, I'd have no doubts at all. I'd sell Pogba immediately and then straight away sign Higuain.

"I'd go to Porto, put Herrera in Pogba's place and nobody could tell the difference.

"Higuain is a far more decisive player.

"The chances of winning the Champions League would increase and he would represent a substantial change."

Herrera has already been linked with a move for Napoli, but Juventus should have the funds to finance the deal if Pogba joins Manchester United in the coming days.
