Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins is playing hardball with Marseille over Bafetimbi Gomis' salary.

Gomis is expected to leave the Liberty Stadium this summer and despite interest from Sunderland and West Ham United, appears to prefer a loan move back to his homeland with Marseille.

But Marseille do not want to shoulder all of Gomis' wages and have been negotiating with Swansea to pay just a portion; Marseille want to pick up just 30 per cent.

A deal is taking time to do as, according to French sports daily L'Equipe, Jenkins is playing hardball over how much of Gomis' wages Marseille pay.

Marseille remain optimistic about reaching an agreement, but Gomis' situation will not doubt be being monitored by his other suitors, who could yet steal in if a deal cannot be done.
