Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio is keen to join AC Milan, despite interest from two other Champions League clubs, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

The 25-year-old defender was pivotal to Villarreal finishing fourth last season in La Liga and qualifying for the Champions League, but has been tipped for a move away from the club.

Arsenal are mooted to be interested in the Argentine defender, but AC Milan are the ones who are doing all the running at the moment to take Musacchio to the San Siro this summer.

It has been claimed that AC Milan are set to meet Villarreal again tomorrow for fresh talks, and hope to reach an agreement that would see Musacchio wear the Rossoneri colours next season.

However, AC Milan are struggling to sell Carlos Bacca this summer, and will only have the funds to sign the Argentine after they manage to offload the striker.

On the other hand, AC Milan have received a boost from the player himself as it has been suggested that Musacchio has prioritised joining the Italian giants despite interest from two other Champions League clubs.

The defender’s stock is on the rise after last season’s performances, and AC Milan are keen to beat off competition from other clubs to take Musacchio to Italy this summer.
