Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is waiting to find out about the extent of midfielder Lucas Leiva’s injury and feels the Brazilian was unlucky to suffer the blow.

Lucas, currently 29, was taken off during Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield last night due to a suspected hamstring problem as goals from Roberto Firmino and Alberto Moreno handed Klopp’s side a fourth consecutive win in pre-season.

Lucas was replaced by Under-18s goalkeeper Shamal George as Liverpool had used up all six of their outfield substitutes in the game. Lucas travelled with the squad to the United States after the game ended.

But Klopp is yet to learn whether the midfielder will be fit enough to feature in Liverpool’s games against AC Milan and Chelsea.

The German, who was asked if he knows anything more about Lucas' injury, told his club's official site: “No not exactly, but of course it’s muscle so we have to wait.
