Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has taken a swipe at Schalke winger Leroy Sane, who is believed to be on his way to Manchester City this summer.

The 20-year-old Germany international has been tipped to leave Schalke this summer, and Manchester City are currently doing all the leg work to take him to England.

Manchester City have already thrashed out personal terms with the player’s advisers, and are only waiting to reach an agreement with Schalke, who want €50m for the German winger.

Bayern Munich are also interested in the Germany international, but were keen to snap him up next summer as a long term replacement for the ageing Arjen Robben.

However, Manchester City are the favourites to snap up Sane, and Rummenigge has taken a dig at the player by saying that young footballers should know how to differentiate between better career prospects and more money.

On Sane, the Bayern Munich CEO told Sport Bild: “There are rumours that he is going to Manchester City.

“I think a young player must decide whether he is planning his career in terms of football or money.”

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola revealed yesterday that the club are indeed talking to Schalke for Sane.
