Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has rejected the chance to join Manchester United and is set to stay at the Bernabeu.

The French centre half has been heavily tipped to be on his way out of Real Madrid, after he struggled to get into Zinedine Zidane’s team for the big matches last season.

The defender has been contemplating his future at the club, and there were suggestions that he was prepared to leave Real Madrid in search of regular minutes next season.

Jose Mourinho has been reportedly ready to snap up his former player, and it has been claimed Manchester United, along with a two other Premier League clubs, made bids of around €40m.

The Manchester United boss was keen on the defender, but according to Madrid-based Spanish daily Marca, Varane has snubbed interest from his former manager, and has decided to continue at Real Madrid.
