Italian midfielder Andrea Lazzari has sent a come-and-get-me message to Leeds United, explaining he would relish the chance to play abroad.

Lazzari, who is out of contract and last turned out for Bari, is a player well known to Leeds supremo Massimo Cellino, as he had the midfielder at Cagliari between 2008 and 2011.

It has been suggested a reunion could be on the cards, but Lazzari insists he has heard nothing, although he would welcome interest from Leeds.

The former Italy Under-21 international, asked about a Cellino reunion, told TMW Radio: "I have not heard from anyone [about Leeds], but I would like to try an experience abroad."

Lazzari also admits to being surprised to finding himself without a contract this summer, explaining: "I am a little surprised, but that is the reality and we have to live with it."

The midfielder came through the youth ranks at Atalanta, who play Leeds in a friendly later this summer at Elland Road.

He had a spell with Fiorentina in the 2011/12 campaign, while then turning out for Udinese when he departed La Viola, and in total the 31-year-old has made 223 appearances in Serie A over the course of his career.

Leeds recently sold midfielder Lewis Cook to Bournemouth, but it remains to be seen whether Cellino opts to call up an old charge in the shape of Lazzari.
