Leeds United CEO Ben Mansford has ruled out a move for free agent Reece Wabara on the grounds head coach Garry Monk would want a better player.

Monk is looking to add a right-back to his squad at Elland Road and it had been suggested Wabara, who is available on a free transfer this summer, could be his man.

But Mansford has appeared to rule out any thoughts of the Whites signing Wabara this summer.

He was quoted as saying by the Yorkshire Evening Post that Monk "would challenge us to get better than Reece Wabara".

Leeds have also been linked with Fleetwood Town right-back Conor McLaughlin, who is also on the radar at fellow Championship club Reading.

However, it has been claimed Monk is unconvinced by the Northern Ireland international.

Leeds were also linked on Friday for AIK full-back Haukur Haukosson, an Iceland international, however he too is not of interest to the Whites.

Monk has brought in six players this summer, paying fees for two.
