Rangers legend Ian Durrant feels new Gers signing Joey Barton will add entertainment to the Old Firm derbies next season.

Mark Warburton pulled off a coup when he convinced the veteran midfielder to shun Premier League football with newly promoted Burnley and move to Rangers this summer.

And the temperamental 33-year-old wasted little time in igniting the Old Firm flames by directly attacking the Celtic captain Scott Brown, who he feels is not good enough to be on the same pitch as him.

Rangers fans have instantly taken a liking for the Barton, and on the other side of the Glasgow divide, Celtic players and fans are baying for his blood ahead of their meeting next season.

Durrant feels the Old Firm derbies need characters like Barton, who can add something to the already heated atmosphere, but he is hopeful that the midfielder will be able to walk the walk when the two teams finally collide.
