Premier League side Swansea City are interested in making a move for Liverpool’s Welsh midfielder Joe Allen, who is also wanted by Stoke City, according to club chairman Huw Jenkins.

26-year-old Allen, whose standout performances in Euro 2016 handed him a place in the official Team of the Tournament, made only 19 appearances for Liverpool in the Premier League last season, scoring twice and assisting once.

The Swans, who have been taken over by an American consortium, are looking to rope in Allen, for whom the Reds have accepted a £13m offer from Stoke City.

Swansea chief Jenkins has confirmed that the club are interested in Allen, who left Swansea in 2012 to join the Anfield based club for a £15m fee.

He told the BBC: "Joe is one of our own players and if at all possible we would probably make that signing."

Jenkins also revealed that the club have made contact with Liverpool regarding Allen’s signature as the Welshman enters the final year of his contract on Merseyside.

Apart from admitting interest in the 26-year-old midfielder, the Swansea chief confirmed that the club are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur winger Nacer Chadli.
