Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez is keen to join Arsenal after the club held talks with his agent yesterday, according to Eurosport France.

The Foxes managed to convince their top goalscorer Jamie Vardy against joining Arsenal, but it seems the Premier League champions are currently clinging on to Mahrez.

Arsenal have made their move to sign Leicester’s star performer this summer, and held talks with the player’s representatives in France yesterday to convince Mahrez to move to north London.

And it has been claimed that Mahrez has broadly agreed personal terms with the Gunners over a proposed move to the Emirates, and is waiting for the clubs to thrash out an agreement.

Arsenal are set to hold talks with Leicester over a transfer for Mahrez, and it has been claimed the Foxes want €50m to sell the Algeria international.

Mahrez played a key role in Leicester’s title winning campaign, but the club are unlikely to hold on to the player against his will, and are expected to grant his wish.

The 25-year-old also has other offers from England and abroad, but he is said to prefer a switch to Arsenal, which could play a key role in his eventual departure.

Leicester paid a paltry fee of €500,000 to Le Havre to sign Mahrez in January 2014, and he has a contract until 2019 with the club.
