Mauro Icardi's agent and wife, Wanda Icardi, has denied that she is meeting Napoli in person today and claimed she is sending an intermediary in her place.

Napoli are weighing up a swoop for the Inter striker after losing Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus; the Italian champions are activating Higuain's €94.7m release clause to take him to Turin.

The Azzurri must replace the 36 league goals Higuain netted last term and believe Icardi, who has also been linked with Arsenal this summer amid talk of Wanda meeting Gunners officials, may be that man.

But Wanda insists she is currently at her office in Milan and is not holding talks with Napoli.

Instead it is an intermediary who is to hold talks over her husband with Napoli officials.

Wanda wrote on Twitter: "Meeting is with an intermediary. I am in my office in Milan, kisses :)"

Inter are not keen on selling Icardi, who they continue to view as a key player.

But Napoli, flush with cash, could severely test Inter's resolve, while Arsenal too could yet become involved in the race as they seek a goalscorer.

The Gunners failed to tempt Leicester City's Jamie Vardy to the Emirates Stadium earlier this summer and they were also linked with Higuain before deciding not to meet his release clause.
