Former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore has tipped Newcastle United to win the Championship title this season.

Newcastle appointed Rafael Benitez to the helm late last season, but it was not enough to see them avoid relegation from the Premier League into England's second tier.

They have managed to keep hold of the ex-Real Madrid boss though and Collymore is convinced that the Magpies are heading for glory in the Championship.

Collymore was asked on Twitter if he thinks Newcastle will win promotion and replied: "Yes, as champions."

Benitez has been busy in the transfer market bolstering Newcastle's squad this summer, but recently suffered a blow when Georginio Wijnaldum left for Liverpool in a £25m deal.
