Napoli have slapped in an initial bid for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, but the Nerazzurri have maintained that their captain is not for sale.

The 23-year-old striker’s future at Inter has been under the scanner over the last few weeks, despite Icardi insisting that he is happy at the San Siro, and remains keen to continue.

Arsenal have been interested in the striker, and his agent was reportedly in London last week to hold talks with the club over a summer move to England.

However, Napoli are the ones who are doing all the leg work to sign the Argentine, and an intermediary of the club recently spoke with Icardi’s representatives over a transfer.

Lazio are on the verge of losing Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus this summer, and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, they have made their move for the Inter forward in recent hours.

They have slapped in a bid worth €37m including bonuses, and have prepared a contract worth €6m per year, which is more than Icardi currently earns at Inter Milan.

Inter have taken note of the Napoli’s bid, but are expected to reject the offer as they are in no mood to sell their captain this summer.

It has been claimed that the Nerazzurri won’t be parting ways with the 23-year-old striker even if they receive a bid of more than €60m in the near future.
