Stoke City have completed the signing of midfielder Joe Allen from Liverpool on a five-year contract, delighting the Wales international midfielder, who insists it was not a tough decision for him to make.

Liverpool recently accepted a £13m bid from the Potters for Allen, meaning they have only made a £2m loss on the £15m Brendan Rodgers paid to sign the 26-year-old from Swansea City in 2012.

Allen, who was included in Euro 2016's Team of the Tournament this summer due to his fine performances for Wales in France, explained the move has been a whirlwind experience.

However, he insists he had no concerns over moving to the Britannia Stadium.

"It's been a whirlwind 48 hours for me but I am delighted to have finally been able to put pen to paper", Allen told the club's official site.

"I was really excited as soon as I heard of the club's interest and it wasn't a difficult decision for me to make.

"I am incredibly excited about my future at Stoke City", the Welshman added.

Allen made a total of 132 appearances for Liverpool during his four-year stint at Anfield, scoring seven goals in the process.

His final bow in a red shirt came in last season's Europa League final against Sevilla.
