Mercurial Italian striker Mario Balotelli has confirmed that he has been training with the Liverpool Under-21s this summer and says he is putting in the hard yards.

Balotelli did very little during his loan stint at AC Milan last season to suggest that he is on his way back up, and despite their limited options the Rossoneri made no effort to sign him on a permanent contract.

The 25-year-old returned to Liverpool earlier this month for pre-season training amidst speculation that the Reds are in no mood to entertain the forward next season.

It has been suggested that Balotelli is not expected to be part of the Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the club, and it seems he has been banished to training with the Under-21 squad.
