Chelsea are ready to increase their offer for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who has also attracted attention from Everton this summer.

Despite Napoli trying to tie him down to a new contract, the defender’s agent has insisted that his client has no interest in renewing his deal with the Serie A giants, and wants to leave the club this summer.

The Belgian defender has been courted by a number of clubs across Europe, but Chelsea and Everton are believed to be the top contenders in the chase for Koulibaly.

Chelsea’s last offer for the Belgian was around €45m, which was easily trumped by Everton who slapped in a bid of around €55m for Koulibaly.

However, according to Italian sports broadcaster Sportitalia, the Blues are keen to get their noses ahead for the defender, and are ready to increase their offer for the Napoli man.

It has also been suggested that despite Everton offering more money, the defender is more interested in Chelsea’s bid, which could tilt the scales towards the London club this summer.

Napoli are still hopeful of keeping Koulibaly for next season and could accept to insert a buy-out clause in the defender’s new contract to convince him to continue at the San Paolo.
