Joao Mario's father claims that Sporting Lisbon have knocked back offers for his son from Liverpool and Inter, but the midfielder is continuing to take a professional approach despite being open to heading to a bigger club.

The midfielder has been linked with moving on from the Portuguese giants this summer, however Liverpool and Inter have seen offers come up short for the 23-year-old.

The Portuguese's father, who says he is not directly fielding bids himself, told Portuguese outlet Dario de Noticias: "Proposals for the boy do not come straight to me, they go to his agent Kia Joorabchian and Sporting's president.

"I was informed however that the club said no to €35m plus €10m in bonus payments from Inter and to €40m from Liverpool."

But despite the offers from the Italian and English giants being refused, Mario is not about to push for a move away from Sporting Lisbon, with his father insisting that his son is a model professional.
