Leeds United have been linked with a summer move for Carpi winger Raphael Martinho this summer.

There was speculation around this time last year that Leeds were keen to snap up the Brazilian winger before he agreed to join the Serie B outfit.

However, his first season at Carpi didn’t go according to plan and injuries and poor form mean that he made only eleven league appearances for the Italian second division club.

And according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, the player is about to terminate his contract with Carpi later today, leading to speculation about his next destination.

A few Italian clubs are said to be in the fray for the 28-year-old, but it has been claimed that Leeds are again interested in snapping up the Brazilian this summer.

And it has been suggested the Championship club could be in pole position to sign Martinho as they look to finally get a deal over the line for a player they have been chasing for over a year.

The 28-year-old moved to Italy from Brazil with Catania in 2011, and made 60 appearances in Serie A before dropping down to the second tier.
