Leeds United officials met Alex Mowatt's representatives last week to discuss a new contract for the midfielder and are scheduled to touch base again soon.

Mowatt is out of contract next summer and the club are now looking to extend his deal to avoid him becoming the latest academy product to leave Elland Road.

Leeds have already sold Sam Byram and Lewis Cook this year, while Charlie Taylor is also in the final year of his contract with the club and is reluctant to sign an extension.

The Whites may have better luck with Mowatt and according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, club officials met with the player's representatives last week.

Both parties have agreed to meet for further talks soon as the Whites try to tie Mowatt down.
