Leeds United winger Stuart Dallas has revealed that he is taking nothing for granted and will fight for his place in Garry Monk's playing eleven.

The 25-year-old received last season's Players’ Player of the Year award at Elland Road after having enjoyed an impressive debut season for the Whites, where he managed a total of 49 appearances, scoring five goals.

The 2016/17 season though has come with new expectations with a new head coach in the form of Monk having taken charge and starting off with pre-season training.

Dallas, who was at Euro 2016 earlier this summer, insists that the expectations this season will be different and he will have to forget about everything that happened in the past and start from scratch.

With six players having already arrived and more expected to come in, Dallas insists that the competition will be high and it will be up to him to show the head coach what he can do.

“The guys that have come in look sharp and they look good”, Dallas told his club's official website.

“Nothing’s guaranteed in football – it’s up to me to come back, impress the manager and show him what I can do.

“It’s not all about individuals – it’s about the team.

"We need to have a successful year and we’ve got the squad here capable of doing that.

“The players like what they’ve seen so far with the new manager and I’ve got no doubts, if we start off well, that we can push on well this season.”
