Lazio have reached an agreement with Newcastle United for the signature of French winger Florian Thauvin, according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport.

The French winger joined the Magpies last summer from Marseille, but did very little of note before he was sent back on loan to the Stade Velodrome during the winter transfer window.

With Newcastle relegated to the Championship, Thauvin is said to be keen to leave, and Marseille are interested in signing their former player, but have struggled to agree terms with the Magpies.

And it seems Lazio have stolen a march on the Ligue 1 outfit by agreeing a deal with Newcastle for the signature of the French winger this summer.

It has been claimed that the Serie A giants have agreed to pay a loan fee of €2m for Thauvin, and are obligated to make the move permanent at a later date for €11m.
