Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has refused to discuss the possibility of Paul Pogba joining the European champions this summer.

The 23-year-old midfielder’s future at Juventus has been under the scanner all summer as Manchester United look to finalise an agreement with the Italian champions to sign him in the coming days.

Real Madrid have also been interested in the player, but the club have been unwilling to match Manchester United proposed transfer fee and salary for Pogba.

There has been speculation that Real Madrid could make a last ditch attempt to sign the Frenchman this summer, but Manchester United are said to be the overwhelming favourites to complete the deal.

Zidane, who remains an admirer of his countryman, remained coy on the possibility of signing Pogba, but insisted that Real Madrid will always be interested in the best players.

When asked about Pogba, the Frenchman was quoted as saying by AS: “I don’t know as we have been working here.

“Until 31st August anything can happen, but he is not a Madrid player yet. We cannot say whether it will happen.

“Everyone is interested in Pogba as he is a great player, and Madrid are always interested in the best but you have to respect a few things.

“He is a Juventus player, and today I cannot say anything.”

Manchester United are expected to strike a world record deal in the next few days to finally re-sign their former player.
