Leeds United are working on a deal to sign former Reading midfielder Conor Shaugnessy.

The starlet has been spending time with Leeds and looking to impress the Whites; he played and scored in a friendly against Tadcaster last week.

And it appears Shaugnessy has impressed the coaches at Elland Road as Leeds are now working on signing up the midfielder, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The 20-year-old would not be a first team squad signing however, with the Irishman eyed to bolster the club's Under-21 ranks.

He made 16 appearances for Reading's Under-21 side last season, but has now departed the Royals.

Leeds have made six signings for the first team squad so far this summer, with goalkeeper Rob Green, defender Kyle Bartley, midfielder Matt Grimes, winger Hadi Sacko and strikers Kemar Roofe and Marcus Antonsson added to the ranks.

Now, along with looking for further signings for Garry Monk's side, Leeds also want to increase their depth at Under-21 level.
