Bologna are considering a summer swoop for Mario Balotelli, but could face competition from Turkish giants Besiktas.

The 25-year-old Italian striker did very little during his loan stint at AC Milan last season, and the Rossoneri made no effort to extend his stay at the San Siro at the end of the campaign.

Balotelli returned for pre-season training with Liverpool earlier this month, but has not been involved in any of their friendlies and is currently spending time with their Under-21 squad.

Liverpool are keen to offload the striker this summer, but have been finding it hard to find a taker for the Italian because of his high wages, but it seems they could soon receive a call from Bologna.

According to Tuttosport, the Serie A outfit are considering making a move for Balotelli and feel it could be low risk business as Liverpool are ready to offer him on a free loan, and they are also willing to pay a large part of his salary.

However, they could face competition from Turkish giants Besiktas, who are looking for a striker in the market after Mario Gomez revealed that he is set to leave because of the political unrest in the country.

Besiktas could soon sit at the negotiating table with Liverpool and hope to agree a deal for Balotelli.
