Chelsea are considering making a move for Torino centre half Nikola Maksimovic if they fail to sign Kalidou Koulibaly this summer.

The 24-year-old central defender has been a rock at the back for Torino over the last couple of seasons, and is now attracting interest from clubs both in England and Italy.

Napoli are interested in signing the defender from the Turin club this summer, and have offered €22m for his signature, but the deal could be complicated in the coming days.

Chelsea are pushing hard to sign Koulibaly from Napoli and are said to have slapped in a big money offer for the player.

However, they have contingency plans in place should they fail to sign the Senegalese, and according to Sky Italia, Maksimovic is their replacement target.

Chelsea could make a move for the Torino defender should their attempts for Koulibaly not lead to an eventual deal, and it could complicate matters for Napoli.

It is unclear whether Napoli see the Serbian as a replacement for Koulibaly or whether they are keen to partner the Torino man with the 25-year-old at the San Paolo.

However, Chelsea are yet to contact Torino or Maksimovic over a summer move to England.
