Tottenham Hotspur forward Clinton Njie’s transfer to Marseille is expected to be delayed until the end of the week, despite the player clearing a medical with the French club.

Marseille have worked hard to convince the 22-year-old Cameroonian to move back to France after just one frustrating season at Tottenham, and have already agreed personal terms with the player.

They have also broadly reached an agreement with Tottenham over an initial loan move for Njie, with an automatic option to make the move permanent after a handful number of games.

While the finer details of the deal are yet being worked out, according L’Equipe, Njie’s move to Marseille is expected to be delayed until the end of the week.

The forward is yet to obtain a visa to move back to France, and it has been claimed that it could be until Friday before he finally will be able to have all the travel arrangements in place.

With a medical done and contract agreed, Marseille are confident of getting the deal over the line, but the delay has frustrated both the club and the player.

Njie has not travelled with Tottenham for their pre-season tour of Australia, and is expected to become a Marseille player by the start of next week.
