Rangers youngster Jordan Rossiter has stressed the need for him to keep his head down and continue working as he hopes to hold down a spot in Mark Warburton's first team.

The 19-year-old arrived from Premier League side Liverpool this summer, with Rangers just paying a compensation fee for the highly rated midfielder.

The youngster though is well aware of the fact that earning a first team spot at once is not going to be easy for him given the competition that is on offer at Ibrox.

The midfielder though is not shy about giving his best in training for his team and waiting for the right opportunity in the near future.

“In training every day I have to improve and I have a long way to go before I am a first-team regular," the youngster told his club's official website.

“I just need to keep my head down working and hopefully I will get a chance in the future to really show what I can do."

Rossiter is not unhappy with the competition for places at Rangers being so fierce, believing it is needed to help drive the Gers up the Scottish Premiership table during the forthcoming campaign.

“The competition is massive, it is good for the team and we are all working to the same end goal this season and that is to finish as high up the league as possible.

"Competition for places is only going to help that."
