Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has revealed that his side’s training is getting more focused and is picking up intensity ahead of the start of the Championship season.

A week from Saturday, Monk will take charge of his first competitive game as Leeds boss against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.

Apart from a defeat to Peterborough, Leeds have been impressive during their pre-season games, and Monk has earned praise for setting up a pre-season programme despite the time constraints he faced at the start of his reign.

With less than ten days left before the kick-off in London, Monk admits that his side’s training is becoming more tailored and sharp as he looks to prepare for his boys for QPR.

He is happy with the way things have shaped up so for in pre-season, and is confident that his side are where they ought to be at this point of the summer.

The Leeds boss told LUTV: “In terms of the training we are doing it is a little bit tapered, it becomes a little sharper, and quicker.

“The tempo becomes a little higher and as we get close to the start of the season it starts to rise, in terms of the attitude of the players.

“It has been good and we are on course to where I like and the players are where we want them. Of course we have to make sure that we get ourselves in the best condition for the first game of the season.”

Leeds will take on Atalanta in a final pre-season friendly this weekend at Elland Road.
