Leeds United boss Garry Monk is hoping to get a few deals over the line before the start of the new season in less than ten days’ time.

Monk has already signed six new players this summer, but there is an acceptance that Leeds need to do more to fight for a playoff spot in the Championship next season.

Leeds have been weighing up the capture of Italian full-back Gabriele Perico, and have also been linked with a move for Carpi winger Raphael Martinho.

And Monk admits that he wants the bulk of his squad in place by signing a few more players before the start of the new season on 6th August.

The Leeds boss has insisted that the club are working hard behind the scenes to sign more players as everyone inside Leeds is aware they need to further strengthen to achieve their goals next season.

On signing players before the start of the season, Monk told LUTV: “Of course that’s the plan and we need to strengthen, we know that as a club.

“We are trying to work together to get that done and we are confident that we will get some deals done to strengthen the squad, that’s very clear.

“The owner, the people behind the scenes in that department are working really hard, and we are trying to get the right players in, but it is not an easy process.

“Of course we know that we need to strengthen and hopefully that will happen in the next few days.”

Monk is hoping to have a few more fresh faces inside the building ahead of Leeds’ trip to Queens Park Rangers in a week from Saturday.
