Rangers boss Mark Warburton says he will not panic if he cannot add further to his squad before the transfer window slams shut later this summer.

The former Brentford manager has already added nine players to the Gers' squad this summer in what is shaping up to be a major rebuild ahead of their return to the Scottish Premiership.

Goalkeeper Matt Gilks has arrived, while defenders Lee Hodson and Clint Hill are further additions. Midfield has seen heavy recruitment with Joey Barton, Niko Kranjcar, Matt Crooks, Josh Windass and Jordan Rossier signing, while Joe Dodoo is a striking addition.

But Warburton wants to add a defender and a forward still this summer, even though he insists if he cannot sign the right players then he will not panic buy.

And he is delighted that Rangers' transfer chases are being conducted quietly, as they seek to avoid bidding wars with other clubs.

"It is about us doing our work and going about our business quietly and under the radar because if we get embroiled in a bidding war we will lose", Warburton said to Rangers TV.

"The players who have come in have mixed in really well with the existing group, which is why I am so strong on character.

"If we can get them then great and if we can’t then we won’t panic", the Englishman added.

Rangers have already played competitive games this season with the Scottish League Cup demanding an early start.

And the signs for the Gers have been promising as they have already eased into the last 16.
