Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has explained that it will take time for the Blues to fully adapt to Antonio Conte’s methods and plans at Stamford Bridge.

30-year-old Cahill, who made 23 league appearances for the Blues last season, was in action for England at Euro 2016 this summer and has returned to a new regime at Chelsea.

The Englishman scored the only goal of the game on Thursday during Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Liverpool in the International Champions Cup, as Cesc Fabregas was sent off after a dangerous challenge on Ragnar Klavan.

Cahill, who joined Chelsea from Bolton in 2012, has said that the team will take time to adapt to Conte’s style at the club.

The defender told the official Chelsea website: “It’s fantastic to be back. We’ve done a lot of training, fitness work and tactical work and it’s good to put it into practice.
